Cream:
1 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs (well beaten)
1 tsp. . soda mixed
1 tbsp. hot water
1 tbsp. hot milk
1 1/3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt

Filling:
1/4 c. dates
4 tbsp. flour
3/4 c. water
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. nuts
15 candied orange slices, cut up

Directions:
Cream:
Mix shortening and brown sugar. Add 2 beaten eggs and mix. Add all other ingredients. Spread over 9x13 greased pan and save 1/3 for topping.

Filling:
Boils all ingredients in double boiler and then cool. After cooled, spread over cream base. Put on saved 1/3 of cream topping. Bake at 350º for 30 minutes.
