Ingredients:
2 pkg Yeast
2 c. Milk
1/2 c. Sugar
2 Eggs
1/2 c. Shortening, melted
7 to 7-1/2 c. Flour
1/2 c. Butter, melted
3/4 c. Sugar
1 tsp. Cinnamon
1/2 c. Walnuts, chopped
Raisins or currants (Optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup luke warm water. Scald milk; then cool. Add sugar and salt. Add eggs and beat. Beat in melted shortening. Add flour and knead as for any yeast bread. Let rise in a warm place free of drafts. Punch down and let rise again. One half of this dough will make one coffee cake. Cut dough into pieces the size of walnuts, and form into balls. Roll each ball in the melted butter. Mix the sugar and cinnamon together in a bowl. Roll each ball into the sugar mixture and then into the walnuts. Place one layer of balls in a greased 9" tube pan, barely touching. Sprinkle with raisins. Add another layer and continue until all balls are used, sprinkling raisins in-between layers. Cover and let rise until light.

Bake at 375º for 30-40 minutes. Cool slightly, and invert onto serving plate.

Very good - great recipe for a cold winter day. Long prep, but well worth it.
