2 cups flour
1 tsp soda
1 tsp salt
2/3 cup shortening (heaping)
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1 sugar
2 egg
2 tsp vanilla
1 chopped nuts
1 large pkg (12 oz) chocolate chips
1/2 to 3/4 cup coconut
can substitute raisins, dates, etc

Directions:
Directions:
On waxed paper, measure flour, soda and salt.

In a large bowl, cream shortening, add sugars and vanilla, beat until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each.

Add flour mixture in two parts, mixing well.
Stir in nuts, chocolate chips, coconut.

Drop by tablespoonfuls on ungreased cookie sheet, Bake at 375º for 10-12 minutes.

Roll extra dough into rolls, wrap in plastic wrap, freeze in plastic bags to slice and bake later.
