Bread:
1 box ready-made white bread mix
1 egg
½ stick butter
½ cup sugar
1 packet yeast

Dissolve yeast as directed on package. Add egg and butter to bread mix. Add water as directed on package of bread mix – slowly to get right consistency. Knead and form into ball. Let rise for one hour or until double in size.

Filling: 2 loaves
1 lb. chopped walnuts
1 stick melted butter
3 eggs separated
1 cup confectioners’ sugar
½ cup warm milk
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 cup chopped dates
1 cup raisins (if desired)
½ stick butter

Whip egg whites to peaks. Fold in confections sugar. Add nuts, butter and cinnamon. Add warm milk, just enough so that the filling is not too thin.

Cover countertops with flour. Roll out bread dough in a 2x2 foot square about ¼ inch thick. Spread filling on dough as close to the edge as possible. Sprinkle with dates, raisins and small drops of butter.

Gently roll dough into a log. Place in greased bundt cake pan.
Let rise for one hour.

Preheat oven to 350. Bake about 40 minutes – or until lightly browned.
Let rest for minutes and coat top with butter to keep the crust soft.
