2 lbs. ground round (can use part sausage)
1 envelope dry onion soup mix
1 1/2 cups soft bread crumbs or minute oats
2 beaten eggs
salt, pepper (1 1/2 tsp. of each)
1/4 c. diced green pepper, optional

Topping:
8 oz. can tomato sauce or catsup
1 tsp. mustard
1/4 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. vinegar (scant)

Directions:
Prepare topping. Set aside. You will use 1/2 of the mixture in the meatloaf and save other half for topping.

Mix soup mix in 1/4 cup water. Add this to meat, eggs, bread crumbs, green pepper and seasoning.

Now, add half of the tomato topping mixture. Mix thoroughly with hands. Shape into two loaves.

Make indentation on top of loaves. Bake 30 min.; then start basting with remaining topping. Bake another 30 min. at 350º.
