Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1/2 c. milk
3 T. sugar
2 tsp. salt
3 T. margarine
1 1/2 c. warm water (105-115 degrees)
1 pkg. compressed cake yeast
5 1/2 c. sifted bread flour

Directions:
Directions:
Scald the milk, then stir in the sugar, salt, and margarine. Cool to lukewarm. Measure warm water into a warm bowl. Sprinkle the yeast into the warm water. Stir until the yeast is dissolved. Add the warm milk and 3 c. flour. Beat until smooth. Add enough additional flour to make a soft dough. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured board and knead until smooth and elastic (about 8-10 minutes). Form the dough into a smooth ball and place it into a greased bowl turning the ball to coat all sides. Cover the bowl and let rise in a warm place free from drafts, until the dough doubles in size. Punch the dough down and let it rest 15 minutes. Divide the dough in half and shape into loaves. Place each piece of dough into a 9x5x3 greased bread pan. Let rise in a warm place until the dough doubles in size again. Bake at 400º for 30 minutes. When done, turn the bread out of the pans on a cooling rack and brush the tops with melted butter. Let cool.
