Directions:Grease the casserole dish with butter. Be sure to line the bottom and up the sides of the dish. Grate the cheddar cheese into the casserole dish. (Can also buy grated cheddar in the package). Add salt, pepper. Drain the cooked elbow macaroni and stir it thoroughly into the cheese mixture. The cheese will melt and coat the macaroni. Pour milk over the elbows and cheese mixture. Add only enough to see the milk come almost ready to cover the macaroni. Bake at 400º for about 45 minutes. |

Notes: This recipe came from Sweden and is well over 140 years old. Bud's grandparents were from Gottesberg. It is a family favorite, and goes well as a main dish or accompaniment to ham. Our family likes the top golden brown. The bottom getting dark is another thing they rush to get onto their plate.
