1/4 cup plus 1 T. water
1 tsp. soda
1 c. margarine
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. molasses
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 egg
3 1/2 c. flour
Directions:
Directions:
Stir water and soda until soda dissolves. Set aside. Melt margarine. Cool to room temperature. Add egg and combine with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt- beat well at medium speed. Add soda that has been dissolved in water to creamed mixture. Beat well and stir in molasses; gradually add flour. Drop by teaspoon 3 inches apart onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 7 to 9 minutes.
