Ingredients:
3 cups self-rising flour
1 1/4 cups shortening
3 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 cup milk (at your discretion)

Directions:
COOKIES:
Sift dry ingredients together, add shortening and mix with fork. Add eggs and vanilla, mixing with fork also. Mixture will be very thick, so add milk a little at a time, up to 1/4 cup, until mixture is workable. Roll thin on a floured surface. Cut into desired shapes. Bake at 350 degrees for about eight minutes. Makes about four dozen cookies.
ICING:
While cookies are cooling, make icing by mixing one box of confectioner's sugar with just enough hot water to make a creamy icing. Add a few drops of food coloring to make them more festive. Ice cookies and let icing set for storing.
