1/2 cup shortening (Margarine)
2/3 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 1/2 to 2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
Pinch of salt

Beat shortening until smooth. Gradually add sugar and beat well. Add eggs and vanilla and beat. Sift flour, baking powder and salt into egg mix. Dough will be sticky soft

Mom made these for Christmas. She had these marked as Dad's favorite! =-)

For best results, make a soft batter.
For variation, substitute anise or other flavor for vanilla. (Mom like them with anise flavor and anise seeds.)
Finely chopped nuts may also be added.
Pizzelle's can be made in advance will keep indefinitely. May be frozen if desired, without loss of flavor.
