3 cups (6 sticks) butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
6 cups of sifted flour
1 jar of red currant jelly
powdered sugar

Directions:
Directions:
1. Cream butter or margarine with granulated sugar until fluffy-light in a medium-size bowl. Stir in flour, a third at a time, blending well to make a stiff dough.
2. Knead 10 to 15 minutes. or until satiny-smooth. Wrap in waxed paper or transparent wrap; chill overnight .
3. Roll out dough, half at a time, 1/4 inch thick, on a lightly floured pastry cloth or board. Cut out 24 rounds with a 2-inch fluted cutter, 24 rounds with a 1 inch fluted cutter, and 24 rounds with a 3/4 inch fluted cutter.
4. Place, 1 inch apart, on large cookie sheets. Re-roll trimmings and cut out.
5. Bake in slew oven (300º) 18 minutes, or until firm and lightly golden. Remove from cookie sheets to wire racks; cool completely.
