8-10 apples, core but do not peel - (although mother did peel the apples, then made jelly with the peelings).
Slice or dice the apples, add 1/2 cup water, cook till apples are very soft. Remove from heat and put through a sieve. Return to stove, add 3/4 cup sugar (or to taste) bring back to boil and cook on medium fir 5 -10 minutes.

Mother usually used Winesaps. After apple harvest, Aunt Sara Schober (Dad's sister) would let us pick-up apples, and they were Winesaps. The recipe is only a guide- the bigger the cooking pot, the more apples, ect. Mother didn't leave us a recipe I doubt she even had one. Add or adjust as you see fit.
