1 medium head lettuce
1/2 C diced celery
1/2 C. diced green pepper
2 C (at least) fresh peas (not cooked)
1 med. onion, finely chopped
1 3/4 C mayonnaise
abt. 4 oz. grated cheddar cheese
at least 8 slices bacon, cooked & crushed
2 chopped hard boiled eggs

Layer in 9 x 13 " pan, starting with lettuce and ending with eggs.

Every summer, there were two "pea" dishes that were a must-prepare and eat: Peas and Potatoes and 9 Layer Salad. It wasn't a good summer unless you had those at least once.
