2 cups flour
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
2 cups sugar
1 cup milk
3/4 cup butter
2 eggs
1 cup warm mashed potato
Chocolate (3 tbs. cocoa powder)
1 cup nuts (black walnuts)

Frosting:
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/8 tsp. salt
1/2 cup hot water
4 egg whites
1/2 tsp. almond extract

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar, butter, and potato, add eggs. Combine flour, cocoa,
baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and add to mixture alternating with milk. Mix well and add nuts. Pour into two nine inch round cake pans. Bake at 350 mins. for 30-35 minutes.

Frosting:
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/8 tsp. salt
1/2 cup hot water
4 egg whites
1/2 tsp. almond extract

Combine sugar, cream of tartar, salt and water in heavy sauce pan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until clear. Then cook, without stirring, to soft ball stage (240 degrees). Beat egg whites until soft peaks form; continue to beat, slowly adding syrup mixture. Add flavorings; continue beating until stiff peaks form and frosting is thick enough to spread.
