Directions:To make the bread: Thaw overnight or prepare loaves in the morning for dinner. I spray the bread with cooking spray and place on a cookie sheet - 1 loaf per sheet - they will expand and fill the tray. Cover with saran wrap and let rise on counter until ready to prepare. Allow about 6-8 hours for bread to rise.
With thawed dough, spread to fill most of the cookie sheet, you will be spreading the toppings in the center, but you do want to be able to roll up the sides to meet in the center to lock in the toppings.
Combine egg yolks, oregano, and parmesan cheese. Spread this mixture down the center of the bread in a vertical line.
Layer the toppings: ham, cheese, pepperoni...when complete, fold the dough over the mixture and close the seams. It may be messy depending on how skilled you are with rolling dough. Use toothpicks to keep it together if needed. Pinch the top and bottom seams. You may brush with the egg whites, although, this is not necessary. Bake at 350º for 30-40 minutes. The bread should be golden brown. Let rest. Slice cross-wise (I also cut once again to get more servings). Heat the spaghetti sauce and serve for dipping. |

Notes: Stromboli : Served either as an appetizer or as an entree. It is like making a pizza - whatever you like. Our new favorite is chicken with pesto sauce.
There is no need to follow the precise measuring of the spices, a little of this, a lot of that. Still a crowd favorite (we usually have the company help make) and very simple. Works well with soup on the side.
