1c. Shortening
2c. Sugar
3 Eggs, slightly beaten
2 tsp. Baking Powder
1/2 tsp. Salt
1tsp. Vanilla
Flour, a cup at a time till it makes a stiff dough

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs, baking powder, salt and vanilla. Then add flour a cup at a time until dough will form a stiff ball. Roll out and cut in shapes or just circles. Bake at 375 till golden brown.
Cookies can be sprinkled with colored sugars for extra treat.

When Diane found this recipe among her belongings it was noted in Aunt Sweet's handwriting: cook for children when they were good and done their chores. Diane remembers, since Aunt Sweet worked she would bake these cookies on Saturday, so that the Diane and her sister Clarice would have something to eat on week days when they came home from school.
