1 cup butter (not margarine)
2 1/4 cups brown sugar (tightly packed)
1/8 tsp salt
1 cup corn syrup
1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Melt butter in a heavy saucepan; stir in sugar and salt; bring to boil. Add syrup; blend well and return to boil. Add condensed milk, stirring constantly. Watch closely, because it scorches easily. Cook to 245º on candy thermometer. Continue to stir constantly; lowering heat as mixture thickens. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Pour into a heavily buttered pan. Cool and cut.
