1 cup raisins
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1 egg
1/2 tsp. salt
2 cups flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. allspice or ginger

Directions:
Directions:
Boil raisins in 2 cups water until about half the water remains. Cream together shortening, egg and sugar. Add dry ingredients and raisins and mix well. Spread into a greased and floured jelly-roll pan. Bake at 350º for 15 minutes. While still warm, cover with powdered sugar icing. Cut into bars to serve.
