1-1/3 cups shortening
1-1/2 cups sugar
1 tsp. grated orange rind
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1/2 cup milk
4 cups flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together well. On floured surface, roll out to about 1/4 inch thick. Cut into shapes with cookie cutters. On a greased cookie sheet, bake at 375º for 8-10 minutes. Don't overbake - bottoms should be browning but barely. Frost with powdered sugar icing and decorate as desired.

I love making these for the grandkids. This recipe is my favorite one - no chilling necessary and the orange rind gives such a nice flavor.
