Beat together for 5 minutes:
1 cup shortening
1 lb. powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
4 egg whites
Then add:
1 lb. powdered sugar
2 Tbsp. lemon juice
1 tsp. almond flavoring

Beat another 5 minutes. Add more powdered sugar if necessary. Should generously cover a large sheet cake.
