Directions:Chill a large mixing bowl for 30 minutes or until cold to the touch. Combine all ingredients but the ice water in the bowl. With clean, cold hands, blend the mixture together until it looks like coarse meal with some lumps that look like cracker crumbs, peas and almonds. These lumps make flaky pies. Sprinkle ice water over mixture and stir lightly with a fork. Squeeze a handful of dough together. The dough should look a bit incompletely mixed before it is pulled together into the ball. Mix in more water if it does not hold together. Divide the dough in half and make 2 disks about 5 inches across. Wrap each tightly in plastic wrap and chill for at 30 min.(or up to 2 days). Take 1 disk out and put it on a well floured board. Sprinkle flour on the top. Start in the center and roll away from you to about 1" from the edge. Turn dough and repeat...work fast: you want it to stay cold.Brush off extra flour and lay over pie pan. |

Notes: This recipe was very simple from Meemaw..the added info is from USA weekend. Susie wants the article about the pie crust instructions added so our children will be skilled in the fine art of homemade crusts. Hands down, this is one of the secrets of Meemaw's famous pies..Susie is a pie crust snob by her own admission and she hopes that everyone in our family will be one too. :)
