1 c unsalted butter, at room temp
1 c brown sugar
1 c white sugar
2 tsp vanilla
2 Tbsp milk
2 eggs, lightly beaten
2 c flour
1 tsp salt (1/2 tsp if your butter is salted)
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
2 1/2 c old fashioned oats (not instant)
12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips (2 cups)
1 1/2 c chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Whisk together flour, salt, baking soda, and baking powder in a medium bowl. In a large mixing bowl cream the butter with the sugars in a mixer. Add the vanilla, milk and eggs. Add the flour mixture and beat to combine. By hand, stir in the oats, chips and nuts. Drop by slightly rounded Tablespoons (or use a cookie scoop) 1 1/2 inches apart on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 10 - 13 minutes. Let sit 1 minute, then remove to cooling racks.

Variations:
For fatter cookies, chill dough overnight, then roll into 1" balls, set on cookie sheets, and bake.
Substitute raisins for the chocolate chips or pecans for the walnuts
Double the chocolate chips
Substitute M&Ms for the chocolate chips
