Sugar Glaze Variations:

CHOCOLATE GLAZE: In a small heavy saucepan heat chocolate pieces and shortening over low heat until melted, stirring often. OR microwave on high for 2 to 2 1/2 minutes, stir smooth.

COOKIE PAINT
In a small mixing bowl beat together egg yolk and water. Divide among 3 or 4 small bowls. Add 2-3 drops of food coloring to each bowl and mix well. Brush over cookies before baking with small new clean paintbrushes.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Any cookie can be improved by a glaze over the top. Have fun with kids and butter or sugar cookies: roll out and use various shape cookie cutters and let the kids paint them with the Cookie paint before baking.
