Heart and tongue, from freshly butchered young beef or hog. Salt and pepper to taste.

Clean and wash heart and tongue. Put in large kettle and cover with water. Add salt and pepper. Cook for 1 - 2 hours, or longer depending on tenderness. When done let cool and clean heart and peel skin off the tongue. Strain the broth and return to kettle and thicken for gravy. Cut heart and tongue into cubes and put into gravy. Heat thoroughly and serve over mashed potatoes.

Scott and Kaylee are the only ones who eat this in our home!!! Omg......the thought of eating tongue, well I like to talk with mine!!! lol......Grandma loves this and always made it, bless her!!
