2 cups white sugar
1 cup of shortening/butter
1/2 cup of dark molasses
2 eggs
1/2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp ginger
1 tsp cloves
1 1/4 tsp cinnamon
3 1/2 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
1. Mix shortening/butter and sugar together. Add molasses and eggs. Then add 1 cup of flour and remaining ingredients. Then mix in the rest of the flour a bit at time till all has been added. Chill dough for at least 4 hours.
2. Once chilled, use a spoon to form dough into balls about and inch in size. Roll each ball in sugar and then place on cookie sheet. Bake at 375º for 12 minutes. Do not over- bake.
