2 c. water
1 c. raisins
1/2 c. vegetable oil
1-3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. sugar
1 egg, well-beaten
1/2 - 3/4 c. chopped walnuts

Pre-heat oven to 375º F. Add water to raisins and bring to a boil. Turn off heat, add oil, and let cool. Sift dry ingredients together. Add to cooled mixture with egg and nuts. Bake in greased loaf pan for approximately 1 hour. Test for doneness with a toothpick inserted in the center.
