2 pkg (16 squares) SEMI-SWEET baking chocolate*
3/4 c packed brown sugar
1/4 c butter
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 c flour
1/4 tsp baking powder
2 c chopped nuts (optional)

*can substitute 18 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips, 12 and 6 oz pkg (3 cups)

Preheat oven to 350º. Coarsely chop 8 squares of the chocolate, set aside. Microwave the remaining 8 squares on high 1-2 minutes, stir until chocolate is melted and smooth. Stir in sugar, butter, eggs, and vanilla. Stir in flour and baking powder. Stir in reserved chocolate chunks and nuts. Drop by 1/4 cupfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 12-13 mins, until puffed as set to touch. Cool in pan 1 minute, tranfer to wire rack.
