Butter or lard for frying
Salt and pepper
Flour

Directions:
Directions:
Melt a slab of butter of lard on a frying pan.
Halve large round tomatoes and place them, the skin side down, in the frying-pan. Sprinkle them with salt and pepper and dredge them well with flour, and let them brown thoroughly.
Stir them and let them brown again, and so on until they are quite done.

Tastes much better than stewed tomatoes.
