1 small bird
Few strips of bacon
Bread crumbs
Slab of butter

Directions:
Directions:
Lard bird with slips of bacon and then put on a skewer.
Tie skewer to the spit at both ends.
Dredge and baste bird and let roast for ten minutes.

For taste:
Place grated crumbs of half a loaf of bread and a piece of butter the size of a walnut in a stew-pan and fry over a gentle fire, shaking until the crumbs are a light brown. Lay bird on crumbs and pour over them a little melted butter.

Makes 2 rations.
