1/2 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. evaporated milk
1 tsp vanilla
3 c. flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 c. chopped nuts (walnut or pecan)

Directions:
Directions:
Mix thoroughly shortening, sugar and eggs. Stir in evaporated milk and vanilla. Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt. Blend in nuts and whatever you choose to add. Chill mixture for at least 1 hour. Heat oven to 375º.
Drop mixture on to cookie sheet with rounded tablespoon and bake for about 10 minutes or until delicately brown.

You can add a Burnt Butter Glaze -
Heat 2 T butter in pan until golden brown. Beat in until smooth about 2 c. Confectioner's sugar and 1/2 c. evaporated milk.
