1/2 c shortening (can substitute butter)
1/2 c brown sugar
1/2 c granulated sugar
1 beaten egg
1T water
1/2 tsp vanilla
3/4 c flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 c old fashioned oats
chocolate chips & walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugars. Stir in beaten egg, water and vanilla. Add dry ingredients, oats, cc & nuts. Put rounded spoonful on greased baking sheet.

Bake 375º 10 - 15 minutes

Lisa's variation: omit chocolate chips, add 1 Tbsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp cardamon or nutmeg, raisins and chopped pecans
