1-1/2 cup flour
1 cup sugar
3/4 cups oats
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/2 cup shortening
1/4 cup molasses
1 egg

Extra sugar for rolling

Directions:
Directions:
Mix all ingredients together. Roll dough into small balls and roll balls into granulated sugar. Bake in preheated 375º oven for approximately 8-10 minutes.

Alec declared these cookies as his favorite cookie. So whenever Grandma Betty came to visit, she would always try bake some and bring them with her.
