1 1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1 egg
2 squares chocolate, melted
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup sweet milk
1/4 t. soda
1 1/2 cup flour
1 t. vanilla

For frosting:
2 squares chocolate
1 1/2 T. butter
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
3 T. milk or coffee
1/2 t. vanilla
dash of salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together shortening and sugar. Add egg, vanilla and chocolate. Blend well and add sifted dry ingredients (soda and flour) alternately with milk. Mix well. Add chopped nuts.

Drop by teaspoon full 2 inches apart onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees until done. While warm, frost with the following frosting.

Frosting: Melt over hot water: 2 squares chocolate, 1 1/2 T. butter. Blend 1 1/2 cup powdered sugar, 3 T. milk or coffee, 1/2 t. vanilla and a dash of salt. Mix into chocolate mixture and beat.
