1 1/2 cup boiling water
1 cup quick cooking oats
1/2 cup salad oil or margarine
1 1/2 cup flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs

Topping:
1 stick margarine
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup evaporated milk
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/4 cup shredded coconut

Directions:

Cake:
Pour boiling water over oats. Let stand while mixing the following: flour, cinnamon, soda and salt. In a mixing bowl, mix sugar, eggs and oil. Add the water and oats mixture. Gradually add the flour mixture and mix well.Bake at 350 degrees 30 to 40 minutes or until done. Pour on before cake cools.


Topping:
Thoroughly dissolve the sugar in the milk. Add the margarine and cook on the medium burner. Stir almost continually until mixtures boils and becomes thick.
Add vanilla, nuts, and coconut. Pour on cake while both are hot.
