3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. dark molasses
2 c. sifted flour
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp ginger
Granulated sugar

Pre-heat oven 375º

Cream shortening and sugar; add egg and beat well. Stir in molasses and sifted dry ingredients. Chill 1 hour, shape into 1-inch balls, roll in granulated sugar and place 2-inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375º for 10 minutes
