5 medium tomatoes cut in half crossways
¾ tsp. salt

1 c Italian bread crumbs
1 c (4 ounces) shredded cheddar cheese
¼ c butter or margarine, melted
1 tsp. dried basil
¼ tsp. ground red pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Sprinkle cut sides of tomato halves with salt. Place tomato halves, cut side up, in baking dish. Combine breadcrumbs and next 4 ingredients; spread evenly over tomato halves.

Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes or until tomatoes are thoroughly heated and cheese melts. Arrange on platter and garnish with fresh basil, if desired.
