1 pt. milk (2 c.)
2 1/2 c. white sugar
2 c. lard
3 eggs
3 tbsp. baking ammonia
1 oz. lemon extract
Use enough flour to make a stiff dough (8 to 10 c.)

Dissolve ammonia in milk overnight. Cream butter, sugar and eggs. Add flour alternately with the milk mixture. Add the lemon flavoring. Roll out on floured board and cut into shapes. Bake at 350º.

These cookies were a Christmastime favorite in the Curry home. Not many people have heard of ammonia cookies. Mrs. Curry would make dozens and deliver to neighbors and relatives for Christmas.
