1 C. Sugar
1 C. shortening (1/2 C. butter and 1/2 C. lard)
2 eggs
1 C. raisins
1/3 C. juice from raisins
1 tsp. soda in raisin juice
2 C. flour
2 C. oatmeal

Directions:
Directions:
Cover raisins with water. Cook until raisins plump. Drain saving 1/3 c. of the juice. Add soda to juice.
Mix raisins,oatmeal and flour together.
Cream butter,lard,eggs and sugar. Add dry ingredients and mix well by hand.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 350º for 10 - 15 minutes or until starting to become golden brown.
