1 c. Sugar
½ c. Shortening
2 Eggs
1 tsp. Cloves
¼ tsp. Ginger
½ tsp. Salt
2 c. Flour
2 tsp. Baking Powder
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1 tsp. Allspice
1 tsp. Cinnamon
1 tsp. Nutmeg
2 c. Applesauce
Raisins & Nuts- if desired
Directions:
Directions:
Sift dry ingredients together in a large bowl. In a separate bowl, cream sugar, shortening and eggs. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the creamed sugar, shortening and egg mixture, alternating with the applesauce.

Pour into a greased 9x13 baking dish. Bake for 1 hour at 350 °, or until done.
