4 quarts (16 cups) of pears, peeled and thinly sliced (about 24 large pears)
3 small cans crushed pineapple, with juice
10 cups granulated sugar
3 oranges, peeled, seeded, sliced, and with fibrous filaments removed
2 6-oz bottles of Maraschino cherries, drained and cut in half

Directions:
Directions:
Mix pears, oranges, and sugar; allow to stand overnight. Add pineapple. Cook slowly in a large, heavy pot until the liquid is clear and thick. Add the drained, cut cherries just before canning.

Seal in hot, sterilized jars.

Makes about 9 pints.
