Syrup:

2 cups sugar
2 cups water
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 cup butter

Crust:

2 cups flour
1 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
3/4 cup shortening
1/2 cup milk

About 1 1/2 cups sliced apples

Directions:
Directions:
Combine in a sauce pan: sugar, water, cinnamon, nutmeg, butter. Stir and bring to a boil. Set aside the syrup.

In a bowl: Combine the flour, salt, baking powder, shortening, and milk until the consistency of pie crust. Roll onto a floured board like you are making a pie crust. Cut into 6 to 8 squares. Place a small amount of sliced apples in the center of the square and sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon, then a small dot of butter. Fold the corners toward the center and turn upside down in a greased baking dish. Pour the syrup over the apple squares. Bake at 350º for 35 minutes.
