2 1/2 cups dark brown sugar
1 cup butter
1 cup milk
4 beaten eggs
1 teaspoon soda
2 teaspoons each: cinnamon, cloves, mace, nutmeg
4 cups flour
3 cups raisins (soaked one hour in bourbon and drained)
2 cups chopped walnuts
1 cup chopped dates
1 cup chopped figs
1 jar candied fruit

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar, butter and eggs, add fruit. In separate bowl sift flour, soda and spices. Add dry ingredients and milk to other mixture. Stir until blended well. Put on low rack of preheated oven. 325º for about 60 minutes...keep checking with a toothpick.
Cool...wrap in cheesecloth (optional: soaked in bourbon), plastic wrap and aluminum foil. Freeze until Christmas.....
