1-1/2 Cups flour
1/2 teas. salt
1/2 teas. baking powder
1/2 teas. baking soda
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1 egg
2 Tablespoons. milk
1 teas. flavoring - usually use vanilla, but give some others a try
Directions:
Directions:
Sift together flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda and sugar.
Cut in 1/2 cup shortening until coarse.
Mix together egg,milk, and flavoring and add to dry ingredients - mix well.
Roll onto floured surface and use cookie cutters to form cookies.

Bake 400º oven 6 minutes -- cook and ice or sprinkle with sugar prior to baking.

I usually double the recipe
