Directions: |
Directions:Cut the slices of bread in 1" inch pieces. Place in a buttered large roasting pan. Add the raisins and nuts if desired. Mix lightly. Beat the eggs with the milk and half/half or cream, sugar and vanilla bean seeds or extract. Add the spices. Add the half a cup of cooled melted butter. Beat all together. Pour the spiced milk butter mixture over the bread. And let sit in the refrigerator a couple of hours. Fold it over to lift the bottom to the top and to soak the top. Bake at 350 for 55 minutes or until done. If the top is getting too brown for your liking, please feel free to cover in tin foil to finish the cooking time. |

Notes: I actually started using the cinnamon swirl bread because Mom only made Bread pudding after she had saved enough ends of the bread loaves, saved in our freezer, I have also used French or Italian bread loves, whatever I can get on the day-old racks at the bakery. This is such a good recipe, you will want to make it every night! You can use a light glaze on it if you would like, but we just used half and half poured on the pudding.
