1/2 C butter softened
1 C sugar
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 C milk
1 2/3 C sifted flour
1/2 C nuts, chopped (optional)
1 lemon, finely grated rind only
Poppy Seed to taste (optional)

Glaze:
1/4 C sugar
1 lemon juiced

Directions:
Directions:
Cream the butter and sugar. Add in eggs and continue beating. Mix in the salt and baking powder until well blended. Add in milk. Blend. Blend in flour until well mixed. Add nuts and lemon rind.
Bake at 350º in a greased loaf pan for around 50 minutes depending on the size of your loaf pan.

After removing from the oven, glaze with the sugar/lemon mixture.
