"As viscous as motor oil swirled in a swamp, redolent of burnt bell peppers nested in by incontinent mice and a finish reminiscent of the dregs of a stale can of Coca-Cola that someone has been using as an ashtray. Not a bad drink, though."--Excerpt from "The Moose Turd Wine Tasting" by T. A. Nonymous

Directions:
Preheat oven to 325º.
You will need 6 ramekins or other specialty flan cookware and a large baking pan to put them in.
Pour 1 c. sugar in warm pan over medium heat. Stir sugar until its brown and becomes caramel. Quickly pour approximately 2-3 tsp of the caramel into each ramekin, tilting it to swirl the caramel around the sides.
In a mixer blend the eggs, mix in the milks slowly and the 1/2 c. of sugar and the vanilla. Pour custard into caramel lined ramekins. Place ramekins in a large glass or ceramic baking dish and fill with about 1-2 inches of hot water. Bake for 45 minutes in the water bath and check with a knife. Remove and let cool. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
