Personal Notes:
You can use regular canned green beans instead of french if you like, but don't use fresh green beans. They must be canned. This dish is good served with oven bar-b-qued chicken and Sister Shubert's dinner yeast rolls. Larry also liked Mrs. Smith's Apple Pie for desert with a little ice cream.

Advice from Laurette: A little Coca Cola stirred up (to get the bubbles out) on crushed ice will help settle an upset stomach.

Advice from Laurette: If you are having company over, set your table in the morning, make sure you have some kind of table centerpiece. You can bring flowers in from your yard if you have them. Cook as much ahead as you can (a day ahead if possible) Make sure that you have everything ready, such as beverages chilled, ice, charcoal if needed and table cloth ironed. It is okay to use prepared foods like frozen yeast rolls. You may want to put out nuts or something for guests to nibble on before dinner. Leave time to change clothes and put on make up before guests arrive. Try to have everything done before the company comes, so that you won't be a slave in the kitchen. Offer your guests an alcoholic beverage even if you are not having one. Enjoy your dinner and ask your husband to do the dishes. :)
