4 slices buttered bread
2 1/2 c. milk
2 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs

Directions:
Directions:
Put brown sugar in bottom of a buttered baking dish, break up buttered bread over it. Beat eggs and milk and vanilla and pour over all. Sprinkle nutmeg and cinnamon over top. Bake at 350. This sugar forms a syrup which is used as a sauce. Bake 30-40 minutes. Add whip cream or ice cream on top. Serve warm.

Many years ago when I was Pres. of the Woman's Club in Ashburnham we put a cookbook together and this has been a favorite of mine since. A good way to use up bread. I have even used rolls. Great recipe for bread pudding. So quick to make and so good.
