4 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp. salt
4 tbsp. shortening
1 1/2 or 2 cups water

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together dry ingredients, add shortening and cut in coarsely with pastry blender or fork. Add enough water to make soft but not sticky dough. Knead gently on floured board or flat. On table roll into rectangles 1/4 inch. Let sit to rise 10 minutes. Cut into 3 inch squares. Fry in deep fat unit fluffy and golden. Drain on paper towels. If used as dessert sprinkle with powdered sugar or drizzle with honey while hot.
