Pastry - makes two crust shell
1 1/2 c. all purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. plus 1 tbsp. shortening
3-5 tbsp. ice water

Filling:
3/4 c. granulated sugar
1/4 c. brown sugar
3 tbsp. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
6 c. sliced MacIntosh apples
1/4 c. light corn syrup
2 tbsp. butter

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Combine sugar, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg in large bowl. Add apples and corn syrup, mix well and set aside. Preheat oven to 425º. Blend together pastry ingredients, roll out half and line 9" pastry pan. Dot with butter. Spoon in filling and cover with top crust. Brush top with cream and sprinkle with sugar. Cut a few slits into top crust and bake 20 minutes, then reduce temperature to 350º and bake 30 minutes more until apples are tender and filling is bubbly.
